My First Bear Hunt

Great bear hunt!
 From Bill Kinney Photography

It began when we got there and the guide started briefing us on where we'd be hunting, how the movement was, all the important stuff that just gets you jittery and wanting to just get out there already!  Alas, by the time I did get to sit in the stand, it was a little different than I had imagined...

Are you interested in archery?  Considering giving it a try? A favorite past time tradition of ours has been the annual bow shoot. Every year, since the kids were little, we'd pack up our tents, bows, arrows, and head to the range. It was a great way to getaway for the weekend, a time to meet up with old friends, take a break from work, and relax with the family.

The different times vary, some are from late afternoon till dusk, and others are done only after the sun goes down. But the real question is...What exactly is a night shoot?

Horns, Thorns, and Fangs: Hunting Rattlers

Bill Kinney Photography
Texas is known for its variety of hunting. One year some friends told us about their hunting trip they take every year to Texas and invited us along. So, we followed them all the way down to Texas to go have some fun and maybe hunt a few pigs. What they didn't tell us was that these hunting grounds were a maze of horns, thorns, and fangs. Every way you turned a cactus that poked, a bush that bit, or thorn that scratched. For the hunters a large clearing had been made in the middle of this field of dangers. The camp was crawling with desert creatures trying to pass through and was full of wildlife.
