Daughter's First Turkey

My daughter had just gotten her license and was ready to go! Turkey hunting or nothing, she was out for blood! We set out to find the turkeys with a sawed off, padded twenty gauge. She was so small she had to sit on my knee just to see over the brush and then we waited for them to come in...

And after about twenty minutes of calling, come in they did! Four big ones right on the edge of the clearing. They were gobbling, making runs at one another and puffing up to three times their size. We were both excited and I thought I'd have to help her hold the gun she was shaking so bad, but that little girl was concentrated! She slowly brought the gun up to her shoulder, picking out the biggest of the four she took aim, and shot! The big guy started flopping on the ground as the other three flew off scared to death they were next. Her dad was back at the house three quarters of a mile from our hunting spot and said he knew we'd gotten one because he could hear us whooping and hollering from there.

It was a week day and she still had to get to school that morning. She was so excited that she asked if she could bring the turkey with to show all her friends. Everyone crowded around congratulating her, all the young boys were envious.

Then there was last thing she said to me before going off to class. With a big smile on her face she turned to me, "I expect turkey alfredo on the table when I get home."
